First, using a sawsall we cut 4 slats off a pallet we had sitting around in our barn AND then cut them to length. By cutting up 3 pieces of scrap wood I attached the pallet slats we have a mounting system that allows for vertical or horizontal hanging.
I wasn’t sure what “grandma and the wife” wanted with this plaque which is why I made this sign universal in terms of its mounting position. Once assembled, it was just in need of a light sanding. Sand just enough to take off the bits that might give you a sliver and round off the corners giving it a more aged look.
Finally, it was time to hand over the sign to grandma for the “INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE.” Using a Sharpie “PAINT PEN” that we got from the art supply area of the local home store grandma penned the quote, “LIVE SIMPLY, REMAIN GRATEFUL.” Words to live by on “LITTLE MISSOURI HOMESTEAD.”
We think it looks great, but most important……GRANDMA AND GRANDPA LOVE IT!
