DIY AFTERNOON PROJECT: HOMESTEAD DECOR

12036746_734422063350868_2047726214623200403_nAs you know, we’ve been decorating our guest room for the grandparents when they come to visit from Tacoma, Washington. Here is a project we did that you may want in or on your homestead as well.

First, using a sawsall we cut 4 slats off a pallet we had sitting around in our barn AND then cut them to length. 12006150_734422163350858_6144432890502360545_nBy cutting up 3 pieces of scrap wood I attached the pallet slats we have a mounting system that allows for vertical or horizontal hanging.

Once assembled, it was just in need of a light sanding. Sand just enough to take off the bits that might give you a sliver and round off the corners giving it a more aged look. 12009700_734422100017531_8859719999527196574_n

Finally, it was time to hand over the sign to grandma for the “INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE.” Using a Sharpie “PAINT PEN” that we got from the art supply area of the local home store grandma penned the quote, “LIVE SIMPLY, REMAIN GRATEFUL.” Words to live by on “LITTLE MISSOURI HOMESTEAD.”

We think it looks great, but most important……GRANDMA AND GRANDPA LOVE IT!
